COLORZ - Biography of the artist

COLORZ

Born in 1972, Sébastien Marc, known as COLORZ, is an essential figure in French urban art. For over 25 years, he has left his mark on the walls, trains, and fences of Paris. From his suburbs to the north and south of France as well as international cities like Amsterdam, Athens, New York, Hong Kong, and Jakarta, his work is everywhere.

A pioneer of street art, COLORZ gained recognition as early as 1987 by tagging throughout Paris and its surroundings. He quickly becomes a reference in the field. Being the first to invest metro walls in Amsterdam and Athens, earned him immediate recognition. He later took his talent internationally to cities like New York and Hong Kong.

Over time, his style evolved from simple graffiti to abstract compositions where color plays a central role. Inspired by the energy of the street, COLORZ transforms the surfaces he explores, whether they are walls or more conventional materials like canvas, wood, or plexiglass.

Since 2008, the artist has been fully dedicated to his art, enriching his pictorial approach while remaining true to his urban roots. His current works, particularly on canvas, reflect strong influences from figures of abstract expressionism like Jackson Pollock and Gerhard Richte. They assert a vibrant and unique identity that make COLORZ a recognized and sought-after artist.
